Sometimes we get so involved with our work we forget to stand back and take a look at the whole picture and then when we finally do, things are not working as we hoped.
So here's a few things I do that help with my process:
- step back and look at it from a distance every now and then.
- hold your painting up in front of a mirror and you'll see it as if from a whole new set of eyes.
- take pictures of your work as you go and look at it on the camera's LED display, I find this gives me another view into what needs working on, kind of like the mirror thing.
- view your painting from all angles, ie: upside down, either side...and sometimes you'll find something visually interesting you didn't recognize before, or that you like it better upside down.
